Another chapter in the story of Boris and the ferret-sitter . . .

I took Scooter over to my girlfriend's today to let him run around there
and socialize while I took care of Boris' mess in the kitchen (see last
FML). He doesn't get along well with other ferrets, and I'm trying to
get him used to them.

I noticed that when he and Boris get into a confrontation, he makes a noise
I've NEVER heard out of a ferret before. It's kind of a whistling screech,
capped off by a louder squeak. Heeeeeeeeee eeee eeeeee EEEEEEK! is the best
way I can describe it. I'd ascribe this to fear, except it's never
accompanied by spraying (he isn't descented) or a puffy tail. Can anyone
tell me what this noise is and what it means?
