Hello,

Does anyone on this list know if there is an allergy test for ferrets
available? I know there is one for dogs, but my vets (who learn most of
what they know about ferrets from me) had never heard of one for ferrets.
Are there any labs out there who do a lot of ferret tests that have the
capacity to do ferret allergy tests? I have a 4 yr old female ferret that
has been sneezing for some time, with it getting worse and worse, she has
been on 4 different antibiotics, but nothing worked. I tried Benadryl
allergy to see if that would do anything, and her sneezing has gone down
drastically, although not completely. I would like to be able to find out
what she is allergic to, so if I am ever able to adopt her out, I can make
sure it is not around to irritate her. I really don't want her to have to
be on Benadryl allergy for the rest of her life. Also, is there any such
thing as allergy shots for ferrets if it is something that is hard to
eliminate, like dust, or if we are unable to find out what she is allergic
to? You can e-mail me at [log in to unmask] . Thank you!

Dooks and kisses to your fuzzies,
Shelley Knudsen
