I'm glad to hear everything turned out OK!
 
I solved the same problem with a door by taking it down and nailing
a strip of wood to the bottom edge.  It doesn't show, and the little
monkeys gave up trying to get under that door pretty quickly.  Anything
softer than wood wouldn't hold up long with their determination!
