Gross as this may sound, bugs are an excellent source of protein.  If any
one watches the Discovery channel, I'm sure you've seen little weasels
happily chomping on bugs the size of hotdogs.  So I can't say I'm surprised
that ferrets would find roaches and other insects a delightful delicacy.
(You've probably also seen people chomping happily on fried grasshoppers,
etc) yuck.
