I was notified that two ferrets were brought into the Gov Baxter Shelter in
Westbrook on Thursday 11/17/2000 by the Animal Control Officer. They were
found loose in the city of Portland.

Two females appearing to be about a year and a half old (swag), one is an
Albino and the other is a dark chocolate sable. Both are very petite with
short coats. They probably weren't outside long as they appear to be well
cared for and they don't have winter coats. The little sable needs a nail
clipping which I wasn't able to do today but plan on doing tomorrow.

The little girls are rambunctious and wanted out to play. The sable is a
bit of a nipper, not a biter though. She just takes your hand, finger,
etc. into her mouth and looks at you. The shelter worker who is a ferret
owner also has been looking after them.

On a really positive note, the shelter is using the wood stove pellets I
dropped off there for the ferrets litter pan instead of the wood shavings.
And they were also so welcoming to me and invited me in to visit the
ferrets and get their take-in info even though they were closed today.
