BTW, I can think of two -- retracted -- claims of 17 year old ferrets that have happened in ferret lists. One was a legitimate error by a sweet person in which one ferret's paper work got combine with that of another (UK). The other was a farmer playfully pulling the leg ( or as we say here now "pulling a Gordon") of a kind person who dearly loved ferrets but was relatively new to them at that time (NL).
