Mikette, Jillie, and Baby mingling under our Christmas tree are overheard
discussing the Ferret Giving Tree.
 
Mikette: "Oooh, it smells so good in here!  I love trees inside"
 
Baby: "Me too, and the water tastes so good!"
 
Jillie: "It makes me feel all warm and cozy in our home, but it also
makes me sad for the fuzzies without their forever home."
 
Baby: "What does you mean?  Are some fuzzies not home yet?"
 
Mikette: "She's talking about shelter fuzzies, ferrets who have lost
their homes and are waiting."
 
Baby: "Waiting for what?"
 
Mikette: "Waiting for a new home.  Like Jillie did."
 
Baby: "Jillie didn'ts have a home?  But this is her home!"
 
Jillie: "This is my forever home now.  I was in another home first, but
my human left me.  I was so sads!  But I was lucky cause Jan at the
Gimmee Shelter took such good care of me.  She loved, fed, and cared for
me.  It was a special place, but it wasn't my home.  I waited til Mommy
found me."
 
Baby: "And she dids!"
 
Jillie: "Yes, she did (-: But it was hard to wait.  Shelter fuzzies need
lots of love.  We need peoples to remember us, so that we remember that
we're so special."
 
Baby: "Is other fuzzies waiting in shelters for their forever homes."
 
Jillie: "Yes, lots of other fuzzies are waiting."
 
Baby: "I hope they find their forever home!"
 
Jillie: "Me too, but we can help while they wait.  We need to remember
them, especially now during the holidays, and be sure they know how
special they are."
 
Baby: "Hows?"
 
Mikette: "There's lots of shelters, and lots of ways to help.  But I know
a special way we can help....the Giving Tree!"
 
Baby: "What?! We're going to give our tree away?!"
 
Jillie: "No silly, Mikette is talking about a very special tree.  The
Ferret Giving Tree - it's a tree made up of ferrets from shelters
everywhere.  The ferrets on the tree are hoping for a Secret Santa to
help make their holiday special."
 
Mikette: "So many ferrets have gotten Santa's, cause there is so many
caring people out there that loves them!"
 
Jillie: "Yups, but there is still more fuzzies waiting and hoping."
 
Baby: "Can we helps?  Maybe we can be a special Santa!"
 
Jillie: "Baby - you is so smart!  We can help!  Let's go to the tree and
find a fuzzie to surprise!  I see two fuzzies on page 7 and seventeen on
page 9."
 
Baby: "Let's be a Santa for one of Jan's fuzzies!  I love Jan!"
 
Mikette: "Baby, we've never met Jan!"
 
Baby: "She gots us Jillie!  If she didn't help Jillie first, then she
wouldn't be part of our forever family!"
 
Jillie: "Thanks Baby!  I is so lucky!  Let's help other fuzzies feel
lucky too!"
 
Mikette: "This is a greats idea for us to be Santa, but I don't want to
wear the hat!"
 
The above was overheard by their lucky Mommy, Risa, who is very glad they
have found the Ferret Giving Tree website and not one for ferret treats
and hammies!!!
