This is a very large FML -- I don't like to send them out this large since
it's a lot for you to plow through and it also overloads mailboxes. If
tomorrow's is as large I may try to split the FML into two issues, but that
causes problems too, so I'll just use my best judgement when I see how
things progress.

Well, the main reason for today's large FML is, of course, discussion of the
82+ ferrets tortured and killed in Spokane, Washington. I've grouped all
those posts at the bottom of the FML for your convenience. The most up to
date information we have at this point is from Scott, who will visit Jean,
the breeder, this morning. I've placed his post at the lead of the group,
though several other FMLers also have spoken to Jean (as well as to local
authorities) and we have much information.

I sent and read quite a bit of email today and spent much time on the phone
discussing this Washington case. Once again, the outpouring of sympathy and
love is tremendous. The readers of the FML continue to demonstrate their
great kindness and their love for ferrets. (Not to imply the people of
Spokane aren't also horrified -- several FMLers who live in the area wrote
me to say how uncharateristic of Spokane this isolated incident is.)

There have also been suggestions of another emergency auction to help Jean.
We're waiting a day or two to see how things develop before deciding.

Thanks again to all.

Bill
