A teddy bear has been created in memory of Bob Rudich. Bob and his wife
Ann were among the catalysts behind legalization of ferret ownership in
Massachusetts. Under the nom de plume "Rudy the Ferlosopher", Bob
frequently contributed his wit and insight to the FML. Bob left us in
July 1997, all too soon.

Janet O'Brien, a member of the Massachusetts Ferret Friends, hand-crafted
"Rudy Bear" as a way to honor Bob's memory. The bear stands 18" tall, and
his mohair fur is the color of bittersweet chocolate. Rudy Bear has his
very own ferret to love. To see Rudy Bear, to learn a little about him and
his namesake, and to get details on the raffle, please visit:

The Rudy Bear will be formally unveiled at the Massachusetts Ferret Friends'
annual Spring Frolic in Boston tomorrow (Sunday, May 31). The drawing for
the raffle will take place on September 8, 1998.

A personal note: Those of you who don't remember Rudy's posts to this forum,
and those of you who who want to taste again his rapier (ouch!) wit -- go to
the searchable FML archives (see above) and search on "ferlosopher". Funny,
maddening, insightful, painful, delightful ... Rudy's posts were always
thought-provoking (or at least provoking). A lot of these posts can stand
on their own ... some of them are "you had to be there" stuff, so if you
don't "get it", look at the previous couple of days' FMLs if you care to do
so--Rudy usually wrote in response to something.

But also, remember, those posts were but one facet of the diamond.

I miss him.

-- Lee, one of the Massachusetts Ferret Friends
