Hi! I justed wanted to take this opportunity to thank a very special person
who helped me save a ferret living in extremely bad conditions. This person
(you know who you are-I did not know if you wanted your identity known or
not) is helping me pay for the ferret and the vet costs, as Athena has not
had any shots, and she needs a good check up, etc. I am broke and could not
afford to buy this ferret which really worried me.

I saw an ad in the local paper for a baby ferret, and I decided to go look
at it, just being curious. I was appalled. This ferret was 6 mos. old and
never had her nails clipped, they only fed her 1x a day, regular cat food,
and they had no water available for her. She had been taken to the vet 2x,
once for dehydration and the second time because she had got in the garbage
and drank some alcohol. Her cage consisted of a plywood box with one very
dirty towel and some wood chips. The floor was stained and damp with feces
and urine. She has not been litter trained. The house was extremely dirty
and most of the time the ferret just ran around on the floor. When I went
to pick her up yesterday she was eating on a moldy piece of orange peel.
Yuck! Don't get me wrong, I am not passing judgment on these people, but I
am very happy that Athena is now safe, and I have one very important person
to thank.

When Athena got home we gave her a bath, and the soap suds and water were
literally black- could you imagine! We clipped her nails, and brushed the
mats out of her hair. Her fur is very bristly, but we have started giving
her some ferretone which will help that. She has just been to the vet for
shots, ear mites and deworming. She seems to be ok. We are quarantining
her now for a couple days. I want to be sure she is disease free before we
introduce her to our 7 mos. female Scooter.

Again, thank you ferret guardian angel, I could not have saved this special
baby without your help and support. Athena will always be grateful. :)

Monica (Cleopatra), Michael, Scooter and Athena.
