The ferret bite was totally taken out of context.  As any ferret owner
knows - Ferrets love rubber.  Rocky the ferret had a camera with 3-4 inch
piece of rubber shoved in his face, that so happened to have a finger
attached to it.  Rocky went for the rubber on the camera lense and found a
finger instead and was taking said finger to his hidey-hole, where all
ferrets stash toys, keys and rubber thingys with fingers attached to them.
I personally know Rocky and his owner and Rocky would never intentionally
bite anyone.  Rubber, however is game for any playful Ferret.  This happened
at Rocky's home.
 
At the Ferret Freedom Walk, there were approximately 25-30 Ferrets and 60-70
Ferret owners.  There were at least a 100 different people at a given time
interacting with all the Ferrets and not one bite incident took place.  A
lady walks up with an ugly 40lb mut-terrier type dog and a young women
sitting on the sidewalk with her hands, palm spread leaning back, while
ferret is in her lap, gets bitten by said DOG!  The dog grabs her by the arm
and proceeds to drag her off by the arm.  The owner of the dog says," Oh, he
always does that, he was abused." Uh, excuse me, why do you bring him in
public.  He wanted to see the ferrets, response.
 
Like the finger and rubber on camera was an accident, this dog bite could be
said was an accident, dog could have been going through owners arms to get
ferret, but in a frenzy missed ferret and grabbed girls arm instead.  Now
that is responsible reporting.  But did that make the news or paper, HELL
NO!!  You can tell Pete Wilson to go suck rotten duck eggs with Fish & Game
and Patrick Johnston, he's so ignorant.  I'd rather take a chance with a
ferret running me down to take a bite out of my ass, than a Rotweiller, Pitt
Bull or the damn Huskies next door that broke out of thier yard and KILLED
my feline companion, that MY Rotweiller played with!!  You irresposible
reporting makes you no better than the papprazzi who chased Princess Diana
to her DEATH !
 
My husband defends the very constitution that guarantees us the right of
private ownership of personal property.  A domestic pet is considered
private property.  Taxes are paid on private domestic property.  Guess whose
salaries are paid from those taxes ?  California's Dept. of Fish & Game has
misclassified the domestic pet ferret as wild and if made legal could go
feral.  That in itself is a joke, the Native North American Wild Black
Footed Ferret is near extinction.  So tell me how a domestic, cat food
eating ferret could stay alive ?  Duh !  Man is the only dangerous feral
animal on this Planet.
 
On January 24th, 1998 turn on your TV sets and watch National Geographic.
8 pm est.  Maybe you will see for yourself what mankind is doing to the
Wild North American Black-Footed Ferret.  Help us educate, not flame or lie
to the public who looks to you for accurate reporting.
 
You know there was a time when the East looked to the West for changes, now
the East and the rest of the world is laughing at California.  The internet
has opened the eyes of the world.  If Pete Wilson thinks he'll run for
president, he will be the laughing stock of the world !!  Every pet owner
that has access to the internet knows about the ignorance and tyranny going
on in California.  Thats a lot of people.
