Tatiana, good luck with your ESL class. My family speaks Esperanto (the
international language) and has made a lot of foreign contacts that way,
so just for fun I started collecting the words for "ferret" in other
languages. Here is my collection to date:

furo (Esperanto)
Frettchen (German)
furet (French)
huron (Spanish)
itachi (Japanese)
khoryok (Russian)
vadasz menyet (Hungarian)- literally, "hunter weasel"
ffured (Welsh)
ilder (Danish)
furao (Portuguese)
iller (Swedish
hilleri (Finnish)
nuselales (Albanian)
samur (Hebrew)
fret (Dutch)

I've left some accents off of the letters, but that should be close enough
for your purposes. If you manage to gather any more words while teaching
your class, I would love to hear them.

Take care,
 Julie
