Stacy,

I'm sad to hear about the negative responses you've gotten from ignorant people.
I was lucky enough to have the opposite experience last weekend. We took Silk to
the vet, and ran into a nice older couple with a cocker spaniel who wanted to
know what he was. We took him out of his towel so they could see how long he is
and answered all their questions while he acted the perfect gentleferret,
accepting pats and giving kisses. I figure every person I can educate is another
part of the battle won.

The good news is that Silk isn't diabetic and there's no sign of cancer. His
kidneys may be getting less efficient (hence the copious dilute urine) so we're
switching to k/d, but he's otherwise very healthy for a 7 year old. Thanks to Dr
Brown for the advice. Now that we have a good vet, we'll take him for frequent
checks.

Wendy
