Thanx for the info. I found some of the articles from JAVMA that
Dr Williams cited in his article, plus the additional one that he suggested.
V'orri is getting checked on Groundhog's Day. The vet who has done these
surgeries before will be at my vets office because the radiology specialist
will be there. They'll take a look at him, and if we're lucky, they'll be
able to go in and remove the affected gland. The vet who regularly subs
in checked him last week, and thought he felt something enlarged on the
left side, but he's got such a thick layer of fat we're all afraid to feel
too firmly-he looks like something will burst if you push.
We're definitely going to do the surgery, but my question is : is
there any post surgical drug therapy? _Biology_&_Diseases_ made it seem like
he'll be on drugs the rest of his life, but no one on the FML has mentioned
anything other than antibiotics. I realize B&D of the Ferret is getting old
and due for a revision. Can someone clue me in please?

Re. introducing to wolfhound - I don't have a wolfhound, but I do
have a retired greyhound. We're taking it slow and easy. Neither of my two
now like dogs. My first ferret loved dogs. Also a friend of mine has three
greyhounds and 3 ferrets. One dog is terrified, one avoids them, and the
puppy tries to play with them, but only one ferret likes the dogs [the one
that is Frieda's sister] so Holly plays with the puppy, and everyone else
tries to bite the dogs. Needless to say, playtime at her house is structured.
Dogs out in yard 2 ferrets loose; dogs in house holly loose, other ferrets
either playing in a closed room or locked up. Also, Holly doesn't like
other ferrets, just people and dogs. Good luck.
