are two ideas from the 101 Ways to Make a Difference e-book:
 
1. Send at least one email a day telling someone how much they are
appreciated; thanking them for something they did for you; or telling
them something you like about them.
 
2. Send a note of appreciation to your local police station or Fire
House.  They risk their lives daily to provide us the protections we
often take for granted.
