I'm not interested in getting into a debate, especially since there's
really no first hand info available.  The ALF does, however, does say all
the animals went to homes.  I can't prove it, nor would I want to claim
something I don't know first hand.  But I think it's important not to
spread speculation, even if it's about people whose methods you don't
agree with.
