Uh... You post the dictionary definition and still think exotic means wild?
Wild was not in the list of synonyms of exotic nor was exotic in the list of
antonyms of domesticated. It was not implied in the dictionary definition.
Your research strongly supports our point of view.

Exotic means according to YOUR dictionary...

   1. Not from here. Or 2. different. Or 3. dancing naked.

Well ferrets don't normally have clothes on when they do the ferret wardance
so to me it sure sounds like ferrets are exotic dancers if not exotic pets.

Thanks for the set up for the joke...

We'll buy that... So far all posted definitions show that exotic being used
for ferrets is fine - except that one about also existing in the wild. If
you think about that one a little while you might remember that dogs and
cats can go feral REAL easily. Ferrets don't (disclaimer mode: yes there
are two exceptions of Europe and New Zealand where they are mixed with
polecats in habitat). Does this mean dogs and cats are exotic but ferrets
aren't? <grinning again>

How about a better interpretation of events - Diane and I came to the
defense of Jazmyn after someone else bashed her for using the word exotic
in conjunction with the word ferret. Exotic is used for nearly all animals
other than dogs and cats that are kept as pets. Well even some dogs and
cats. When a new breed of dog or cat makes it to our shores or suddenly
comes from the obscure to the forefront, a dog or cat is exotic for at
least a while. The Sharpei was only a few years ago considered by many to
be an exotic dog breed - it still is to some.

Why are we the lightning rod? Because we stick up for folks that don't toe
the politically correct line? We will continue to stick up for those we
think are unfairly bashed over their points of view. That isn't us starting
problems.

If I were to hope one lesson could be learned from the basically pointless
fighting about the word "exotic" that would be "lighten up".
