Dear FML Vets and Owners!
I need to ask for any advice and help! Molly was fine at 4:30pm yesterday,
and at 5:10pm she was limp and staggering. She wouldn't drink water or eat,
she was drooling and seemed very disoriented. Her "mom" took her to the vet
and they took x-rays, gave her antibiotics (amoxcicillin, sp?), and kept her
overnight. No blockages showed up on the x-ray, but she had a lot of gas.
She may have swallowed the stuffing from stereo speaker, but the vet seemed
to rule that out. When they tried to take her temperature, she had a little
diarrhea, dark green. The vet checked for parasites, but found none. Her
ears are draining wax, but the vet either didn't notice or just didn't say
anything. They sent her home with her "mom", but she is still very
disoriented and cannot hold her head up to drink water from her bottle, her
head bobs back down to the ground. We've got a copy of the FAQ, and two
other ferret books commonly found in pet stores. When she tries to walk she
falls to the her left side, (the vet only cleaned the ear on her left side,
and both were dirty with liquid wax.) Have any of you experienced anything
like this? What should her "mom" do? The vet told her to bring Molly back
if she began to drool or had diarrhea again. Any help would be much
appreciated! Thanks!
