If you find bugs in the food, then you should toss it out.

Once a bag of food has been opened, it's a good idea to keep it in a sealed
container - Iams usually has a promotion about once a year and gives
containers away with the purchase of a bag of food - I've collected 10 of
them over the years. Big Tupperware/Rubbermaid containers work just as
well. Storage bins and containers can also be purchased at Petsmart, and
I'm sure must be available at other pet stores.

Sealed containers during summer months are a necessity, IMO. Folding over
the bag just doesn't do it - imagine how a loaf of bread would taste if you
left the bread bag open! With humidity and bugs, folding the bag over just
isn't enough. Store all food in sealed containers!
