They have to set by having the vet test at the same time on a meter
that IS accurate for ferrets. Without being synchronized they can still
be used to notice changes in DIRECTION, though. I know that you have a
situation where there is a dearth of any veterinary medical equipment
there in Ethiopia because you have often written that, Nell.

There is a recommendation that Dr. Jerry Murray gave recently for  
glucose meters for ferrets.

Hi everybody

I know some have asked what glucose machine to use for ferret blood
glucose testing. Now Abbott has finished their testing of their
AlphaTREK machine with ferret samples. They recommend using the dog
code (which is code number 7). They used 40 ferrets to test their
machine and then compared it to a commercial lab, and the dog code (#7)
was very accurate for ferrets. Thus the answer to what machine to use
is the Abbott AlphaTREK machine.
