Thanks to everyone for the help and advice.  I have found a local rescue
and talked to them this afternoon.  (monday).  I'm taking Peeps to them
tomorrow to drop off.  Wes, at our local ferret shelter, gave me the
number, so I know it's a good place.  He said he takes his birdie type
rescues there, and Wes and Susan are super careful about any
animals/people they deal with.
