ferrets and vanilla- CAUTION!!!!

i was told to put vanilla on a ferrets nose when introducing them to a new
ferret because it numbs their sense of smell.  DON'T USE VANILLA!!!!!!!!
all 3 of my ferrets that i put vanilla on got violently ill and lost a lot
of weight, vomiting and diarrhea pouring out of my poor babies while crying,
i had to rush them all to the hospital ......PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS!!!  NO
VANILLA!!
 
i don't  want anyone else's ferrets to ever go thru what my ferrets had =
