There is a good ferret group on Long Island called New York Ferret Rights
Advocacy.
 
They have an active membership and frequently rescue, adopt out, or just
plain know where ferrets are.  The editors of Modern Ferret magazine are
members (it was great fun to meet them and their famous Marshmellow one
