I've received every issue of Ferrets magazine since it first began (I
also received every single issue of Modern Ferret, but those are long
gone now) . For some reason (maybe I'm a magazine communicator? LOL),
this time I chose not to renew. I have lately found it more of a chore
than a pleasure to read. However, up until a month or so ago, they were
sending me mailings to renew. Since we all know that magazines are
prepared months in advance, we know they were planning the magazine's
demise long before they quit taking subscriptions!!! That's not a very
nice thing to do. At least they are returning peoples' money.

I have found that online publications are not nearly as thorough as
printed ones (my local newspaper is a prime example), so though the
"magazine" will still be around, I wouldn't expect it to be as
comprehensive as what we're used to.

No offense to anyone here who writes for Ferrets, but I think a lot of
the problem was that they never got any new blood in there. It was the
same writers, the same information with a different twist, nothing new
and exciting. After a while, it got boring to me. I would bet that
their sales have been dropping, probably for this same reason. However,
when you think about it, how long can you possibly keep coming up with
enough information to fill an entire magazine about one pet every two
months! That's where the repetition/boredom comes in. I subscribed to
both magazines for the information in them, not for the cutsie stuff.
Now, the magazine is mostly cutsie stuff, with very little useful
information.

I guess, all in all, I don't see this as a big loss......

Katharine
