Jennifer - Each ferret will differ in what they like to eat. With
insulinomas we want to add protein to their diets and feed several times a
day. Sick ferrets would rather sleep than eat and when a ferret with
insulinoma sleeps more their blood sugar plummets downward so waking to feed
is a must. My original recipe was packed with vitamins and supplements but
I've downgraded through the years. Here are 2 recipes to try. The first
one is a batch and can be split into 2 oz servings. To each serving I add
1/2 cc Colloidal Silver and 1-2 cc's of sweetened condensed milk. Fresh
food and water is always available.

1 can Science Diet A/D, 1/4-1 cup Pedialyte, 1/4 tsp Brewers Yeast,
1/4-1/2 cup ground regular hard food
             or
2 oz Ensure plus, 1-2 tblsp Gerber Baby Oatmeal cereal, sprinkle of
Brewers Yeast, 1/2 cc Colloidal Silver, 1 cc sweetened condensed milk.

You can mix and match ingredients. The main concern is getting your
ferret to eat often enough to keep the blood sugar up. Teddy eats the
second recipe and sometimes I really have to coax her. She feels much
better after she eats. She even walks around the house, Teddy was 8 in
June, is totally blind and has lost all her biological family to cancer.

Bladder Infections - Willow just had a bladder infection. He was on Clavamox
for about 10 days and then Amoxi for another week. To make sure he drank
enough fluids I enticed him with Ensure Plus and provided Pedialyte along
with water. A couple days after I started the Ensure his urine color
was lighter and he started getting more active. Again, sick ferrets
would rather sleep, if you sleep you aren't drinking, if you aren't
drinking you aren't flushing your system.

Hugs to all. tle
