I had the same problem with a few of my larger ferrets jumping over my
plywood barricade.  I got a length of black plastic tube at Lowes (cheap -
10 cents a foot if I remember correctly) and cut a slit in it lengthwise.
Then I slipped it over the top of the plywood barrier.  It increased the
height a bit but what it really did was crate a rounded edge that the
ferrets coiuldn't get a good hold on to hoist themselves over.
