I have heard from the editor of "Ferrets" magazine that no one there had
anything to do with the unpleasant mails that came out recently about
"Modern Ferret". It sounded like their latest editor was familiar with
the earlier instances and called such behavior "unprofessional" and
"juvenile", so I was very reassured and extremely pleased to see that such
actions will cause a crack-down, and I thank Melissa Kauffman for letting
me know. This is the way it should be. I love it when directions of
progress are good and constructive ones, and this is a fine example.

[P.S.]
Clarification received from Melissa Kauffman:
Just a clarification, I said that if Marylou or I had said such a thing
that it would be unprofessional and juvenile. As professional magazine
editors, any negative comments regarding others in our same profession is
not in true spirit of publishing. I can only comment on my own behavior
regarding my position. I absolutely had no intention of commenting on
anyone's actions but my own or Marylou's.

I want to assure you that although my managing editor and I monitor the
FML (we don't participate besides for asking for some ferret owners'
comments for upcoming articles), we certainly do not say anything negative
about any competitors. We are on the list to listen to people's concerns
regarding their ferrets and have no intention of getting involved in any
arguments and discussions.

I would appreciate if you could add this to the posting for me. Marylou
will contact you regarding your thoughts and suggestions, which we really
appreciate. Thanks so much for your time!

Melissa
