Sigh...

After our (finally) successful apartment search yesterday, Sean & I went to
CVS to pick up some prescriptions. While we were in line, a coworker of
his got in line behind us. They started chatting, and Sean mentioned our
apartment search and trying to find one that was ferret-friendly.

The guy said "You guys are really into ferrets?" so we explained to him
about the Herd. Then he shook his head and said he was sorry he didn't
know a couple of weeks ago. He said a friend of his had a ferret and he
"couldn't take care of it anymore" so he LET IT GO!

I was in the process of paying when I whipped my head around and shrieked
"WHAT?!!!" I think I scared the poor guy. He repeated himself and I began
shaking my head. So Sean piped in & explained to the guy that you can't
just let a ferret go like that.

The guy seemed genuinely sorry that it had happened. But then a woman in
line behind him piped up and began asking ferrets questions. So Sean & I
played ferret ambassadors for about 15 minutes in the middle of CVS,
educating this guy and woman. It turned out to be fun. The coworker of
Sean's told us he would let us know if he heard of any other "ferret
atrocities" with his friends.:-)
