Jeanne Carley - Ferret Photo Basics 101
One hour seminar and slide show of Jeanne Carley's famous ferret
photographs with inside tips on how you can enhance pictures of your
little darlings.  We will review basic photographic principles (light,
shutter-speed,aperature and how they relate to each other), and a talk
about how you can enhance your own ferret photographic techniques.
Jeanne will reveal her special tips for getting great shots at just the
right moment.
 
Jeanne Carley - Ferret Photo Intermediate 102 and Live Ferret Photo Shoot!
 
Two hour seminar and slide show of Jeanne Carley's award-winning ferret
photography.  After a slide show of her work and a discussion of the
importance of lighting, propping and how to work with ferrets, Jeanne
will do a live ferret photoshoot using her point and shoot camera-this is
a non-professional camera, something just like the one you might have!
 
Participants are encouraged to bring their own cameras and ferrets, and
will work in teams of two to get some nice photographs using the set
Jeanne creates.  Please be sure that you are completely familiar with your
own camera.  Questions about the operation of specific camera models will
not be addressed, so read up on your camera before coming.

Topic: Emerging Diseases and Therapies in Ferret Medicine and Surgery #435
 
This is a didactic dinner presentation will acquaint attendees with
emerging diseases and new options for treatment and diagnosis.  The
lecture will cover some of the more recently discovered diseases, such as
epizootic catarrhal enteritis and Aleutian Disease, as well as highlight
some of the newest developments in terms of diagnostic and treatment
options for a range of ferret ailments.

Ferrets are living creatures with a unique psychology that is largely
inherited from the polecat progenitor.  A comparison of the polecat
progenitor and the domesticated ferret will be made, emphasizing some
common ferret behaviors, including why they get lost so easily, can they
go feral, why don't they eat new foods, why they dig, and are they
affectionate.  Some discussion of diet will be made, emphasizing the
obligate primary carnivorous nature of the ferret and how it relates to
the mental health of the ferret.
