First of all, there are a lot of us on this List from Florida.  There are
also a lot of very competent, knowledgeable ferret vets in the state.
One of the top ferret specialists in the country is in Gainesville, Dr.
Deborah Kemmerer.  That said...
 
Do a little research about the recent distemper outbreak in the ferret
community in New Jersey.  That's all that needs to be said.
 
Ferrets in Florida should also be treated year-round for heartworms.
