Well, I don't know about MAKING a lap ferret, but we only have one true lap
ferret right now, and he started sleeping in my and my husband's laps the
very first day he came home (at 8 weeks.) In fact, the first night he was
home, we had him in a separate cage (we don't like to mingle them with the
current residents when they're THAT small) and he WOULDN'T GO TO SLEEP!! He
kept crying when we put him in, so finally at 2 a.m. or whatever
godforsaken hour it was, he fell asleep in my lap. When I had to go to the
bathrooom he slept in Dave's lap.

As Sidney's gotten older, we notice he has a preference for female laps --
ANY female lap. In fact, we call him our "lap slut," since he'll sleep on
ANY woman. Of course, all the women love him ;)

We've tried converting some of ours as well, but they think we're nuts. I
guess it just depends on the animal's personality.

Amy and Sidney ("Mom, I know you're pregnant but why's your lap
disappearing?")

Amy & Dave (and their gaggle of giggling ferrets)
RIP Ian and Elektra
