Hi everyone,

This weekend has been very trying for me....I just got divorced, 3 of my
friends were killed in a car accident this weekend and I was just
broad-sided on my way to work this morning by somebody who slid through a
stop sign!

I got a call this weekend from a young woman who said her ex-boyfriend
dumped his ferret on her to take care of (not sure of the whole situation,
I don't know either of them). Anyways, she got my name from the local pet
store here. I currently own four fuzzies myself and am constantly coming
into the store to check on the ferrets that get shipped in. The pet store
knows that I am trying to get people interested in a ferret club around
town (since there isn't one in this state) so we can all exchange
information and educate the public as well as vets in this area. Well,
they gave her my name and number and she called me and said she needs to
get rid of this ferret asap. She was wondering if I could find it a home.
She tried taking it back to the pet stores but they wouldn't take her. I
asked her what she was feeding it and if she had a cage. The girl told me
she is feeding it Science Diet (at least that was okay), but had no cage
for her...they were keeping it in some small pet corral & pet taxi at times
since she had two cats already. I told her that I could try and find
someone to adopt her but it might take time. She said she didn't want to
let it go outside since it's been snowing here the last couple of days. I
almost started crying on the phone, I couldn't believe she even thought of
doing that. I can't stand to think this poor little fuzzy is suffering.

It looks like I might end up taking this little girl into my home
temporarily until I find her a good home. I live in an apartment and by no
means am a ferret shelter, but everyone knows me as the "ferret woman" here
in town. I will call the girl tonight and try to make arrangements to pick
her up. As far as I know, the ferret is a 2 year old female, spayed and
has current shots. I will post tomorrow on the rest of the info. I live
in Bismarck, North Dakota if anyone is interested. Thank you!
