One of my four ferrets does that too.  It's known in ferret parlance as
"speedbump".  It's incredibly cute--as is most of the other posturing and
acting that they do.  To me it can mean many things:
 
        I'm bored.
        I'm tired, so I'll just rest a few seconds.
        I'm trying to blend in with the floor--see how invisible I am?
        See how incredibly cute I am?
        Give me a treat Pleeeeeeze!
