Well, Chaos went in to have his cataract checked and blood work done on
Saturday. It turns out that he's hypoglycemic; the vet said his glucose
level was in the 50-55 range--a bit low. She said this indicates
insulinomas but also said that surgery is very much a last resort as it
usually isn't very helpful. She feels that Chaos's hypoglycemia can be
managed by diet and suggested dabs of Nutrical 3-4 times a day to help keep
his glucose level up and keep him interested in eating. (Chaos, btw, has
absolutely -no- problem with this; Nutrical is Wonderful Stuff in his book.)
The vet was pleased to hear that he's still very active chasing the
Barbarian Brothers around.

I got the results of the CBC yesterday and everything there is normal.

About the cataract: Dr. Harr doesn't seem to think that there's any problem
with glaucoma since glaucoma and diabetes are linked and Chaos is the
opposite of diabetic. So it seems that there's nothing much to worry
about/to be done there; I just have to remember to wave any treat around on
his good side so that he knows something yummy's coming.

In short, the vet wants to approach this conservatively for now and save
medications (Prednisone, diaz-something) for later if the Chaosity gets
worse.

Any comments, please?
