I want to thank everyone who gave me such great info and support on the
Adrenal surgery vs Lupron issue. I have made an appointment with a new
vet for Friday morning. He did my son's cat's surgery and she's doing
great. I am still going to go with the shot's and melatonin for now. I
literally get sick when I think of having surgery for him. I hope that I
have found a vet whom I can trust. I may opt for surgery in the future
if, 1. the shot's don't work, and 2. I can get past this terror of
surgery. I've known for a while that Kiki was showing symptoms, and have
even talked about it before, but just couldn't bring myself to take the
plunge and get him to the vet. (not too cheap, just too scared).

For those of you who would flame me, I just want to explain about Little
Bit. She and I fought from day one. She could not be convinced that the
tops of my feet were not her personal chew toys. She was not my favorite
ferret, but I did love her very much. When she blew her fur and made it
clear that her adrenal glands were giving her problems I made the right
decision and found a vet to do the surgery. The vet came highly
recommended and was supposedly he was experienced. I gave him my
precious baby with confidence that I would pick her up healthy and cured
that afternoon. I got her about 4 p.m. that day and she was warm and
sleepy. Within the hour her temp dropped, but I couldn't get a hold of
the vet to find out what to do. I spent the entire night with her on my
chest trying to get her to drink and eat. I left several frantic
messages on the vet's line, but no reply. I finally laid down to sleep
about 6 a.m. When I got up at 8 she was ice cold and seizing. I rushed
her to the vet where they gave her fluids and tried to save her but she
passed a little after 9. I was so consumed by guilt that I had delivered
her into the hands of a killer that I physically and mentally collapsed.
I went into such a deep depression that I was almost hospitalized. It
was my fault that she died. I should never have done the surgery. If I
had done the shots instead she would be biting my feet to this day.

So if you still feel the need to flame me for not having the surgery have
at it. (so far no one has, but there are some nasty people on this
list). To all the wonderful people who have helped me with this, thank
you again for the great info. Prayers would help if you are so inclined.
I know I have to find a good vet that I can trust because I have four
other ferrets who will most likely get sick too.
