For Valerie and anyone else having litter box problems: When I first
got ferrets I bought some of the triangular corner boxes. What a waste
of money! After getting involved with a major shelter I learned about
using the small size rectangular cat litter pans. They cost about $2 at
Wal-Mart, maybe more at a real pet store. The ferts like the choice of
corners and some like to brace their front paws on the opposite rim.
The pans can be attatched to the cage with one or two 4" spring clamps
if needed. For some of the poopers the edge may not be high enough and
maybe the medium size would work better if you have room. Also by
feeding high quailty ferret food there is less volume to the waste and
less of a mess. A razor knife can be used to cut down the front edge if
needed for oldsters, and the edge can be protected with some duct tape.
Good luck; let me know if this helps.
