Personally, it wouldn't take the ferret unless the guy gave it to me for
free.  You might be able to calm it down with lots of good food, treats and
gentle handling, but then again it might be mentally scarred from it's life.
 
Considering how the Fredonia ferrets fared (they were rescued from a ferret
farm), I'd consider it a possibility that you could save this poor thing.
But I wouldn't pay $300 for it!  I have a hard time with situations like
this -- I want to save ferrets in bad situations, but my logical side says
you can't save everyone.  *sigh*
 
I hope this poor thing can be taken care of.
