My late neuter male, Stanley, is also dragging his middle.  The vet
suggested a diet - Put his food all around the room and make him run for
it.  Its just tough to do when you have 4 ferrets that always have food
available.  The funniest part was when the vet renamed Stanley - Norm,
from Cheers.  You know, the big guy at the end of the bar.  He was teasing
that my little energetic DEW, Al, has been fetching Stanley all his food!
I can laugh about it because he is healthy as far as we can tell - he's
just put on a lot of extra winder weight!
