Hi everyone,

Well here is my personal experience with this. I have a 6 month old
adorable girl (if I do say so myself:) and two ferrets ages 4 and 3. Now
my male who is 3 could have cared less about the baby - he came, he smelt,
he went back to sleep - (can I say "typical male" - only kidding guys:)

Now my female was more curious, but with a purpose, she was interested in
what this little critter had to offer - i.e. in the way of stuffed toys.
She steals all of them and puts them under our bed.

As for the pitch thing - here is our experience- you know those Tomagatchi
toys - the virtual pet things- well I had one in the house and the beepy
thing went on and she went spastic trying to find out where the noise was
coming from - it was definitely the pitch that was driving her crazy. So
what I did was let her investigate it and although it looked like she wanted
to just attack this thing all she really wanted to do was poke her little
nose at it nothing more.

My view on the whole noise issue is *Yes the pitch does drive them crazy but
I don't think they would harm or attack the baby at least in the 6 months we
have had that pitch ummm baby cry (and our child had colic in the beginning)
in our house we haven't experienced any problems.

Like any other animal you have to supervise the animal when it is around the
child - you don't see every neighbor tossing out their cat/dog when they
have a child - they work with the pet and child to get them through the
transition - don't forget the baby will eventually have a normal pitched cry
that will not drive the animal nuts (dogs go crazy when babies cry to you
know).

This noise could be a good thing now if the ferret gets out of the house
just take the baby outside when it cries and the ferret will probably come
home:)

my $.02 for what it is worth

Keep loving those fuzzies and the non-fuzzies too!

Dawnie
Fern - need more stuffed animals
Gaston - hey these baby chew toys are cool- I'll take them all!
