Sorry, I don't remeber who sent in this question.
Out of my 5 ferrets two cannot resist toes.  I know this probally isn't the
answere you are looking for but I gave in and wear what I call foot
protectors.  These are a big pair of slippers(make sure they have closed
toes).  My boyfriends solution is to sit on the couch with his feet up :) A
spray bottle with water or a very stern NO will sometimes work with time.
Now I guess you understand why we call these little guys Carpet Sharks.
