Hi Jenn.

I'm sending you an E-Mail response and a posted response, since there's
information of use to RI area ferret fanciers.

JC> I was just wondering if anyone could help me out. I am looking to
JC> get another ferret in the near future and was wondering if anyone
JC> had any advice as to where I might get one in this area.

There is a ferret organization in RI: FARI, the Ferret Association of Rhode
Island. FARI takes in abandoned ferrets, nurses back to health those that
need it, provides educational information on ferrets, and helps ferrets find
new homes. I help them out by providing pro bono legal services to FARI and
serving as Master of Ceremonies at the Ferret Frolics (see below).

Also, twice a year FARI holds Ferret Frolics. It just so happens that there's
one coming up this weekend: Sunday April 23rd, at Neach Street, North
Kingstown, RI. Check in is between 9 and 10, Judging starts at 10, fun events
start at 10:30. There will be Specialty Rings (non-championship), Tube Races,
Bag Escapes, Sit Up contests, Floppy Ferret Chases, Best Cage Decor (spring
theme), Best Costumed Ferret (Spring theme). Vaccinations will be available
for $10 per vaccine. Fun Events: $5.50 per ferret for all events. Specialty
rings: $5.50 per ferret per ring. Ferret entry fee includes family admission.
General admission: $2.00 per adult, $1.00 per child, $5.00 per family.

All ferrets attending must have proof of current canine distemper & rabies
vaccination. RI rtesidents should bring their DEM permit. Permit forms will
be available at the show. Non-participating ferrets are welcome at the show
free of charge, with proof af vaccination as listed above. Many vendors will
be displaying their wares!

For further information, call Holly or Moe at (401) 294-6309 or Kim and Andy
at (401) 885-9208.

I strongly recommend you stop by or contact one of the above. You'll find
lots of advice and help.

Bob
