I loved your story about the fellow who used the PVC pipe to create an
outdoor maze for the ferrets.  I think I'd be a little worried about it
myself because of the escape artists talents that never cease to amaze me,
but it sounds like its a wonderful area for them.  If I had the money and
the yard.....

We use Petromalt daily for ours.  Its given as a morning treat.  All of them
beg for it and come to the sound of the name Petromalt.  We leave their food
out always, so as far as that 2 hours before and 2 hours after food rule,
we've been disregarding it for almost 3 years now.
