RE:  Vinegar and alcohol and cleansers...
 
Angela suggested experimenting with mixing cleaners with vinegar to clean
and deodorize ferret "misses". A chemist might give us details but I'd say
DO NOT
mix cleansers containing chlorine bleach with anything acidic like vinegar
or lemon juice.  It's quite likely to release a small cloud of chlorine gas
which can burn throats and eyes and lungs.  I once had a gallon plastic
bottle of diluted "stop bath" (weak acetic acid, about like vinegar, used
in photographic developing) disintegrate on me (plastic bottle was *very*
old, the handle just fell off when I picked it up).  It was all over the
floor in the darkroom in the Federal Building where I worked.  I called for
maintenance to assist.  The nice and very helpful woman was having trouble
cleaning it up, so she grabbed her can of powdered cleanser with bleach (an
Ajax / Comet type thing) and poured it all over the floor before I could
stop her.  This *giant* cloud of chlorine gas mushroomed up, choking us.
They sent both of us to the doctor, and evacuated the small office next
door.
 
Granted you are talking about smaller quantities, probably less than a
gallon, but be very careful.  Didn't you ever see the "volcano"
demonstration where you make a little hill of baking soda and pour a bit of
vinegar in the center?
 
Please be careful, you don't want to harm yourself or any of your wonderful
l'il carpet sharks.

*his* socks...  ;-)   ... you could show us all your latest home movies...
especially the X-rated one with you and that good-looking female
