Last night I almost killed Spaz. I was kneeling down to clean up some poop
and Spaz got under my knee. I don't know if she was trying to attack my
feet or my dress. She didn't make a sound or bite me. But stood there
looking very shocked. I started checking her over for injury and her back
started rippling and she started breathing harder. I wrapped her in a
towel and carried her to the couch to call the vet, when she got bristled
tailed and tried to get away from me, then she acted like she was going to
throw up. Her ears and nose became very red. The vet told me to fix a
strong solution of sugar water and give her 8-10 drops every 10-15 minutes
and message her, doing CPR if necessary. He said if there was no bleeding
from the mouth or nose she should pull through. She had her eyes closed
and they had the sunken dead look. She took the sugar water and by the
second dose started resisting but swallowing. Her color started looking
better but she still just laid in my shirt next to my chest with her eyes
closed. After an hour I checked back in with the vet and he said continue
the message until I went to bed and keep giving her sugar water every
thirty minutes. By and hour and 15 min. she wanted to check out the pet
carrier and went to the bathroom(no blood), she even drank some water.
After and hour and half she didn't want to cuddle. I put her in her
carrier with Syber. Syber was a great nurse and slept with Spaz to keep
her warm.

Spaz saw the vet this morning and he found that I squished her in the fatty
part of her stomach. Her tummy was swollen and her vulva was a little
bloody. She was given a shot for the inflammation and pain. He said I was
lucky that I didn't get her GI tract. Everything else was fine. Temp.
was normal. (Syber also saw the vet for a bump and was put on antibiotic
for staf infection. Third time in 6 mos. to get that kind of bump.
Probably caused my wrestling with Roulette.)

I wanted to get on the computer last night and hope that BIG or someone was
there so they could tell me what else I could do to save her. I would have
but didn't want to stop the message. I can't believe that the pain was
enough to send her in shock and near death. I try so hard to make sure
they don't get stepped on or sat on and then I kneel on one. I am so
afraid to let them out of their cages tonight. I know I have to, they have
to be cleaned, never got that far last night. Hope this helps someone else
if their ferret ever gets hurt and goes into shock.

In case someone is wondering why I didn't see Spaz it's because I'm
pregnant and can't see my feet. Otherwise I wouldn't have had to kneel to
clean up after them. Minutes before Spaz was knocking over my coke and
biting my feet under a blanket then boom! Near death.
