A quick summary of the USDA proposal:

There are 3 main provisions, simply stated:
1) No animal may be transported without its mother or surrogate mother
unless it is 8 weeks old and weaned.
2) Exceptions may be made for transport to research facilities with an
approved transportation plan.
3) Exceptions are allowed for transport to a licensed veterinarian for
routine and emergency medical care.

Please check the IFC web site http://www.ferretcongress.org for details
on the needed action. Remember the deadline for comments in July 8! It
will only take a few minutes of your time to say you support the 8 week
provision for ferrets, and that it will make for healthier kits.

I've had a report of the web site timing out before comments could be
submitted. If this happens to you, you might want to try another web
browser.
