I have two Ferrets. One is a year old female and the other a 10 week old
Male Un-neutered. The male is generaly calm. When I pick him up he relaxes
and let's me play with him, he doesn't even nip when we play. My main
concern is when he gets food or anything that he is intrigued by (ie.,
Brillo Pad) he get's mean. The first time he did this was with a little
piece of pepperoni. He was on the floor eating it and when I went to stroke
him, slowly mind you, he screamed and bit me hard. I picked him up the
whole time him growling and screaming, and trying to bite. I scruffed him,
but this didn't phase him. I took the food away and he got better. Since
this first episode he has done this with a piece of candy he got into, a
brillo pad, and a doggie treat at the vet. It seems that when he gets
something strange he attacks. Is this normal, and should he quit when
neutered. Also can I train him not to do this.

Frustrated and thinking of giving up.
Dave, Candi and
Cosmo, (bitting) Chaos
