I could use some information from any of you vets or otherwise ferret
enlightened people on the list.

I have been taking care of two of my local shelter s ferrets, one of which
probably has adrenal problems. He has been seen by a vet but no surgery has
been recommended because his only symptom is hair loss from his neck to the
mid part of his tail. His energy level and appetite are as good as all of
the other ferrets in my house.

Over the last two weeks, I have noticed hair growth over his previously bald
spots. I don t know if this is winter coat growth or if it could be a sign
that maybe he doesn t have an adrenal problem. Can ferrets with adrenal
problems regrow hair?

I m not sure if this obscure ferret reference has already been mentioned or
not, but I was watching a movie called The Great Escape with Steve McQueen
and sure enough, twice our fuzzy friends were mentioned. The movie is about
American POW s attempts to escape from a German camp by tunneling out, but
they didn t know what to do with the extra dirt. Someone suggested hiding
it under the barracks but was told That is the first place the ferrets will
look. At the end of the movie, all the actors were pictured with their real
name, their character s name and their character s nickname. One of them
was a German guard who s nickname was The Ferret .
