Deana: Recently I was working at the computer (trying to make my way through
the gallons of email) when, all of a sudden, Flip's cage started to vibrate
madly. I was afraid that it would fall off the table it's on! I heard
squeeks and chuckles as it vibrated away. I went over to see what was
happening and Flip was sleeping soundly. I watched him for awhile and then
resumed typing my replies. After a short time the cage exploded again with
sound and vibration. I quickly went over and the shirt that Flip sleeps in
was bouncing up and down and the entire cage was shaking. I opened the cage
and lifted the shirt as the vibrating died down. Flip was once again
sleeping soundly. Very queer! He hasn't done this in my presence since so
I haven't really worried about it too much. I, like you, assume that he was
dreaming of murdering rabbits or getting revenge on that hawk...

Flip and Rosie: The worm has turned! The formerly frightened Rosie is now
terrorizing Flip and he is running from her! They play in the "Tube of
Mystery" with Flip going in one side and Rosie the other. When Flip in
fully inside Rosie quickly (very quickly!) backs out and goes around to bite
Flip's butt. He is usually backing out as well at this point but he can't
hold a candle to her speed. We don't need the t.v. anymore with these two
around!

Vet bills: I have read this on the list and have been in this position
myself several times: We have animals but don't have the resources to help
them properly if they're sick. I've been thinking about this for myself and
thought I'd share my thoughts. First off I believe that taking on a furry
companion is very similar to having children. I see it as an implicit
contract to care and respect (if not love at least respect) these beings who
cannot fend for themselves. We are dishonoring that contract if we give
them dificient care and should not keep our creatures in that case. I have
been in this position myself and, being the fuzzy addict that I am, I
couldn't give up my animals to a better home. Thank God they didn't get
sick and need special care because I couldn't have helped them and, unless I
could have found a charity minded vet., they would have suffered needlessly.
I am now building an emergency fund in case of illness or injury and I hope
never to be without fert insurance again. <Paul steps off his soap box and
back into the crowd>

Lisa: I also have a motorcycle and am just waiting for the summer to begin
figuring out how to bring Flip and Rosie along for the ride. Any updates on
the experiment would be appreciated! I was thinking of a modified cage that
would strap on the back. Or maybe a set of saddlebags that have a window
cut into them...

Your ferret friend,

Paul
