Hi folks, quick question.
 
Anyone out there know of any reasons why giving popcorn as treats would be
bad for a ferret, notwithstanding the usual warnings about over-feeding, etc
etc?  It's incredible how much my kids love it, and Potpie has eaten up to
five pieces in a sitting with no later adverse effects - before i moved out
of mom's house, mom would sit there on the couch with Potpie, watching tv
and giving Potpie a new piece of popcorn every few minutes until i made her
stop. :)  This is unsalted and unbuttered popcorn, and i usually try just to
give them the springy white bits without any shells or husks, which might
get caught between their teeth.
 
Since they get corn meal in their food, i dont see that there could be any
adverse effects, and every time i pop a bowl of popcorn i save a ziplock bag
to feed the kids from - it's chewy like styrofoam and has almost *no* mass
to it, so they can eat a lot and fill up only a little.
 
Of course, my kids also think it's the world's greatest treat if i sit there
and hand them kibbles of their OWN food from their OWN bowl, or if i dip my
fingers in their water bowl and let them lick the water off, so i dont think
i should ever need other treats.  :)
