I too had wondered about the camera and sent an e-mail to the zoo
asking. This was the reply I got:

The camera in the Black Footed Ferret nest box is a compact weather
proof black and white camera with a wide angle lens. There is an off
camera Infra Red LED light just above the camera which is pointed
up and bounces light off of the nest box cover. This customized
arrangement reduces hard shadows in the nest box and eliminates the
bright eye effect in animals that are common with standard types of
compact IR cameras. Although the box looks well lit, if you were to
see it at night it would appear totally dark inside.
